Hmmm… Use the internet to drive people to my business door? Yep, that’s what we said. Read on to find out how…
With the enhancement of web based tools, local online marketing is now more effective than ever. Whether you’re part of a national chain, have stores throughout the city, or are a small business with a single office, there are local marketing solutions that can literally drive business to your door.
The no brainers that you need to setup now, if you haven’t already, are local profiles at Yahoo, Google, and MSN. These are FREE platforms and take but a couple of minutes to setup. These listings will literally put your business on the map when someone searches for a local solution, such as ‘denver shoe repair’ or ‘omaha flower shop’. Not to mention, you might even receive an incremental SEO boost from setting these up.
The next step is to market locally with Pay Per Click campaigns at, you guessed it, Yahoo, Google, and MSN. By doing this, you will ensure your business ads appear in their search results anytime someone searches for exactly the product or service you sell. Although these platforms do cost money to use, you have absolute control over what you spend and can pause your campaign at any time. We suggest finding a proven Pay Per Click management company to plan, build, and manage your campaign for you. If done well, you’ll receive qualified website traffic and online leads within your budget. If done poorly, you could stand to lose time and money on empty clicks.
Last, but not least, enroll your business on popular ‘Local’ search engines, such as SuperPages.com, Local.com, and CitySearch.com. Although these search engines may not drive the traffic of Google, the traffic you do receive is going to be just as qualified, if not more so. These vertical engines have become popular resources for people to quickly find local solutions for their needs. List your business for free, or pay for improved exposure and hopefully these people will find you.
Now that you have your ‘local’ marketing strategy in place, it’s critical that you develop a method of tracking results generated both online, and off. Although you could take time out of your own schedule to figure this stuff out, we’re guessing that’s not how you want to spend your time. You do have a business to run after all… We suggest partnering with a proven online marketing expert to efficiently manage and optimize your campaign. The investment will be well worth it, trust us.
Cheers!
Matt

Do you have any recommendations in regards to other sites/forums related to web traffic that I can look into? Thanks!
Hi Judy,
There are a lot of sites out there to check out… I personally like thesemblog.com, smashingmagazine.com, and of course, googleblog.blogspot.com. I’m sure there are more out there, but these are the staples I’m checking up on daily.
